It’s been several busy weeks and I’ve missed posting. Not simply that I’ve missed/haven’t done it but have missed visiting through my window. Today’s post is late but at least here and will be a jumble of bits and pieces. I hope something in the jumble will pique your curiosity and you’ll peek in my writer’s window in the coming weeks.
So, what is? It’s that time of year when I’m up to my armpits in poetry and art submissions for Kakalak – and as always, I’m loving it. This year we have 637 poems to read and 170 pieces of art to look through. I’m not sure yet how many of each will be in this issue, but unfortunately it won’t be all of them. A friend asked over the weekend, ‘How do you even get through that many?’ My goal is to read 50 poems each day and that takes 5-6 hours. It’s daunting, but not as daunting as it sounds. Unlike my fellow editors, I print off all the poems – they do their work on the computer. I’d have such a headache and eye strain if I did that! I have the poems in my binders, go sit out on my deck and read. Being outside makes the task easier and much more pleasant. This is a picture from last year, but it’d be the same if I took one this year. If all goes as planned, I should finish my scoring within the week. Then I wait for the others to finish and then the magic begins!
So, what was? Hubby and I traveled here and there, and some interesting things have happened around the house. Instead of writing about all that this evening – I have some poems to read after all – I’ll leave these photos and write about them in the weeks to come.
So, what will be? I’m not completely sure yet, but the heart, mind, and soul are always open for surprises and blessings. I hope yours is too, and that you have a great week.

A teaser? I like that. The pictures are interesting. Tree climbers/cutters always fascinate me – can’t even imagine doing something like that. I also like the fact that you print out the poems and read outside. I pretty much print out all my work emails or attachments that are over a page or so long so I can hold them and write notes on them. As my associates get younger they think I’m stranger and stranger so it’s nice that with you I have a kindred spirit. Looking forward to your stories. Enjoy the poems. And the process!
Definitely kindred spirits! If I had to deal with emails like that, I’d print them off too. Let those youngsters think we’re weird, I like not being tethered to my computer, and I can’t imagine the damage they’re doing to their eyes. Glad the teasers worked lol. It was amazing watching these two guys – just 2 of them! – take down these huge trees. I talked with them after and asked about the work, and I hope I can capture their true joy when I write about them. Their faces just lit up and they had these huge smiles … I wish everyone could love their work as much as they do. You my friend are a blessing and I always look forward to reading your comments. Thank you!
You are also a blessing and a good friend. Please make your responses shorter so I don’t have to print them out to read them. 😎
Okay. lol 😉
