What is. What was. What will be.

It’s been several busy weeks and I’ve missed posting. Not simply that I’ve missed/haven’t done it but have missed visiting through my window. Today’s post is late but at least here and will be a jumble of bits and pieces. I hope something in the jumble will pique your curiosity and you’ll peek in my writer’s window in the coming weeks.

So, what is? It’s that time of year when I’m up to my armpits in poetry and art submissions for Kakalak – and as always, I’m loving it. This year we have 637 poems to read and 170 pieces of art to look through. I’m not sure yet how many of each will be in this issue, but unfortunately it won’t be all of them. A friend asked over the weekend, ‘How do you even get through that many?’ My goal is to read 50 poems each day and that takes 5-6 hours. It’s daunting, but not as daunting as it sounds. Unlike my fellow editors, I print off all the poems – they do their work on the computer. I’d have such a headache and eye strain if I did that! I have the poems in my binders, go sit out on my deck and read. Being outside makes the task easier and much more pleasant. This is a picture from last year, but it’d be the same if I took one this year. If all goes as planned, I should finish my scoring within the week. Then I wait for the others to finish and then the magic begins!

So, what was? Hubby and I traveled here and there, and some interesting things have happened around the house. Instead of writing about all that this evening – I have some poems to read after all – I’ll leave these photos and write about them in the weeks to come.

So, what will be? I’m not completely sure yet, but the heart, mind, and soul are always open for surprises and blessings. I hope yours is too, and that you have a great week.
