As a writer and poet, I put words on paper because that’s part of what energizes me. I would write even if no one read my words. But I have to admit, getting published and sharing my thoughts and stories has been fun 😉
But what if a large percentage of the population couldn’t read or understand what I wrote? Unfortunately, in some places that’s not such a stretch.
While I can’t imagine not reading just from the pure enjoyment of it, there are other practical reasons for reading. A Writer’s Window opens to an organization’s view that reading is more than a writer’s wish and it is doing something about it.

And for my fellow readers, On the Bookshelf is this week’s nonfiction selection. Whenever I think I can’t do something, it’s a book like this that smacks me in the head and tells me to get over it. It’s a book of amazing hope and determination.
